Your thoughts on us
Here are a few kind and encouraging words received from visitors to Cobnor Activities Centre about our outdoor activities, residential facilities, educational facilities and corporate activities:
"Just to say to all the staff at Cobnor, many, many thanks for the wonderful residential visit my Year 5 class had. The food, accomodation and activites were all brilliant and perfectly tailored to the age group. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the instructors who managed to make sure that the children had great fun, whilst also maintaining complete control and ensuring the children's safety.
"A packet of thank you letters should be in the post, I hope they demonstrate just what a great deal the children learnt." Polly Neville, Bosham Primary School, residential visit with activities, October 2012.
"THANK YOU to Andy and the Centre for the most brilliant Silver DofE Canoeing for our 8 pupils. It was exceptional and please pass on my huge thanks to Andy. Andy is a 'saint' and all the pupils loved him!" Ditcham Park School, Silver DofE, August 2012.
"We were both amazed and impressed by the competence and maturity of the instructors, especially given their age. For the young and the old learners they were inspirational." Monica MacKinnon, Sailing Course sponsored by Sport England, July 2012.
"What a great place this is! Did our RYA level 1 dinghy sailing at the weekend - who knew that the wet and cold could be such fun?!" Lisa Clark, RYA Dinghy Sailing Level 1, May 2012.
"I wanted to say a very belated thank you to you and the team. Milo really enjoyed his Cobnor experience this year - the Expedition Camp - and said it was the best yet!" Clare McRobbie, Expedition Camp, September, 2011.
"On behalf of all of us we say thank you for a great day. Good installations and equipment and a well-organised and thought-through programme, with very competent, professional, patient instructors who were also good company.
By popular request, from all ages from 7 to 74, we will be back." Bill Risso-Gill, Family Activity Day, August 2011.
"I just wanted to say thank you to all involved in our fantastic day spent at Cobnor today. What a wonderful programme you put together for us. It was extremely well organised, and the lunch on the beach was superb. What a great way to spend a day and team build with your colleagues at the same time.
Big thanks goes to our powerboat driver Owen, as he went out of his way to help us with our challenges (not giving us any answers though!!!), and it resulted in us winning!!! What a bonus and a great end to the whole experience. Thanks to you all." Vanessa Aquilina, Bosham Primary School, Teachers' Team Building Day, July 2011.
"I am writing to thank you for letting me have a work experience placement at Cobnor Activities Centre. I found it to be very enjoyable and rewarding, especially when my watch made a raft out of sticks and string, they showed real teamwork and determination.
The time I have spent with your company will help me to make decisions about my future study career options over the next few months and beyond. I feel that I have gained self-confidence and better abilities to work with others.
Once again, many thanks for your help and support." Jack Mason, Work Experience Student, July 2011.
"Thank you for running such brilliant days for us. All of us who came from Boxgrove to the GAS outdoor days enjoyed ourselves. I had a great time. I can’t think of my best bit as the whole day was just fantastic!!" Freddie Hobbs (on behalf of the eight children from Boxgrove C of E Primary School who attended Goodwood Area Schools), July 2011.
"Thank you so much for all your help with regard to our Y6 Residential visit this week. The children all had a fantastic time – all the instructors were encouraging and supportive and helped the children to challenge themselves and achieve. All the activities were superb. Jackie looked after use well too; we were all well fed! Thanks to Liz as well for her help in finalising the visit and making all the arrangements.
We’re looking forward to coming next year!" Kim Thornton, Headteacher, Boxgrove C of E Primary School, July 2011.
"Our sincere thanks to Liz, Mark and the great team of instructors you have at your centre. Our children really had a great time (again) and I am already being badgered about next year – with the possibility of doing two!
We used the whole of the Log Cabin (girls), although four of the Year 11 girls asked to sleep in tents outside the cabin rather than enjoy the comfort?! We also had eight senior girls in the end room of the Jubilee and seven members of staff spread amongst the other rooms. We used all of your tents, and had our five Gap Students sleep in one of our own tents – to keep an eye on them!
Once again, a million thanks. Please may I book a weekend for July 2012? Our Headmaster is very keen." Mike Renahan, St John’s College Southsea, June 2011.
"Thanks for Phoebe’s great course, which finished on Thursday (RYA level 2). Hugh was absolutely fantastic with the children and is a great instructor. Phoebe loved his enthusiasm and fabulous knowledge – what a star! We really appreciate his excellent tuition." Mags Duncan-Duggal, Parent, June 2011.
"The kids had a great time, as part of our programme (Goodwood Area Schools) we can match children from different schools with similar interests. It’s great, from a Head's point of view, to bring the group down here and not worry about anything. I know that the activities are run very professionally and it means we can relax in the sun. I couldn’t bring a group anywhere I’d be worried, as a Head you leave nothing to chance!" Christine Smith, Lavant Primary School, Goodwood Area Schools, June 2011.
"On behalf of the Herne Junior school children, their parents and the staff, I just want to thank you all for putting on two fantastic days sailing for these children.
Most of them had never been sailing before and Kevin with the help of James, Captain Jack and crew gave the children a day to remember - capsizing, overcoming their fears and just enjoying the sea.
I particularly want to thank Hugh, who basically taught most of the children to sail from scratch in one day! He had them tacking and working in teams very effectively. The sailing game of rugby in the afternoon was brilliant. I certainly think that most children will want to take up sailing in the future.
The children were given recognition in assembly of the fact you generously awarded them all with their RYA level one certificate, it meant a lot to them. Thank you all once more." Alison Udall, Herne Junior School sailing course, May 2011.
"At Cobnor Activities Centre the a451 team took the BCU 1 Star Paddlesport Award over 5 sessions, which was a great team building activity.
The a451 team had mixed views on kayaking, from the excited to the petrified! However, Steve, our instructor, was brilliant at ensuring that we all felt safe and had fun. During the sessions Steve introduced games to help build confidence, I’m not sure he banked on the team being so competitive though!
By the end of the course our spirits were high and confidence had grown. We had a great experience and really appreciated the time and skill that Steve and the team at Cobnor Activities Centre gave us. Maybe we’ll be back for the 2 star…" Carla Holcombe, a451, Chichester, July 2010.
"Thank you for a great day of kayaking at Cobnor. Our young people came from various groups around Sussex and they all loved the experience. We look forward to working with you again in the future." Yael Breuer, Sussex Clubs for Young People, June 2010.
"It all looks very good. It’s great to have everything in one place so that the teachers can stay with the kids and the kitchenette being close by is very handy too. The new classroom facilities are great as well. I love the idea that space is available for hire out of season for revision etc." St. Mary's Primary School, Clymping, May 2010.
"It was great to see how far Cobnor Activities Centre has come and the vision of so many people realised. West Sussex now has an excellent resource for training young people in outdoor education activities." Dan Jaspers, International Sailing Federation, May 2010.
