People of all ages can learn to sail at Cobnor. Whether you are a complete beginner, or you wish to update your previous sailing skills, as you are feeling a bit rusty - there is something for everyone.
Either book on one of our scheduled brochure courses, or call us for 1:1 private tuition in our fleet of Wayfarers, Bosuns, Laser Picos, or RS Fevas. You can attain qualifications following the RYA National Sailing Levels, or simply get out on the water and enjoy the beauty of Chichester Harbour.
National Sailing Scheme
At Cobnor we follow the RYA Syllabus for all our Adult Sailing Courses. We pride ourselves in providing an extremely high standard of tuition.

All of our Adult Sailing Courses are two day weekend courses or 8 week evening classes commencing after Easter.
Start Sailing | Level 1
This course provides a short introduction to sailing for novices. You will learn how to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovering. By the end of the course participants will have basic understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge and will be able to sail in light winds under supervision.
Basic Skills | Level 2
Pre-requisite: Level 1
This course covers rigging, launching and sailing in all directions. It also includes capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge. By the end of the two day couse you will be able to sail and make decisions in good conditions.
Better Sailing | Level 3
Pre-requisite: Level 2
Enhance your skills and develop your techniques with a range of tasters from the advanced modules. You will become more confident in sailing skills and techniques, and at the end of this course you will be ready to progress onto the advanced modules
Once RYA National Scheme Level 2/3 has been completed there are a series of advanced modules to complete, all designed to improve your knowledge and ability.

RYA Sailing with Spinnakers
The course will cover how to rig the boat, gybe and recover one type of spinnaker, either conventional or asymmetric and how to sail the best possible course downwind. By the end of the course you will be able to sail with a spinnaker.
RYA Seamanship Course
This course will teach you launching and recovering the boat in different circumstances, stopping, reducing sail, recovering a man overboard and anchoring. By the end of the course you will be able to handle a wide range of situations afloat
Adults in Picos
Designed to encourage adults to get out and about on the waters of Chichester Harbour during term time mornings, or at weekends. These sessions are specially designed to provide an active, fun and supportive environment, for adults of all sailing abilities, at an affordable price.
