Whether you are a complete beginner, or you wish to update your previous sailing skills, as you are feeling a bit rusty - there is something for everyone.

You can attain qualifications following the RYA National Sailing Levels, or simply get out on the water and enjoy the beauty of Chichester Harbour.
Start Sailing | RYA Level 1 | Keelboats
No minimum age (although under 16s may prefer to learn through the Youth Sailing Scheme)

This course is run in our Hawk 20 spacious Keelboats and is designed for beginners as an introduction to sailing and will give you a good start to cover the basics. By the end of the two days you will have covered all you need to know to get afloat under supervision. The course will cover, an awareness of launching and recovering, tacking and gybing and some basic ropework. The aim of the course will be to spend the majority of time on the water.
This course provides a short introduction to sailing for novices. You will learn how to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovering. By the end of the course participants will have basic understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge and will be able to sail in light winds under supervision.
The RYA G4 National Sailing Scheme Logbook is included in this course and will give you the opportunity to track progress and record your sailing experience.
Basic Skills | RYA Level 2 | Dinghies

This course covers rigging, launching and sailing in all directions. It also includes capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge. By the end of the two day course you will be able to sail and make decisions in good conditions.
We advise everyone participating in RYA courses to have their own logbook as this will give you the opportunity to track progress and record your sailing experience. If you do not have a logbook, you will be able to purchase one from the Centre.
RYA Adult Level 3 - Better Sailing

Timings: 09:00-16:30
Certification included
RYA Level 3 Better Sailing (2 days) - Further coaching to consolidate the skills learned during Level 1 - Start Sailing, and Level 2 - Basic Skills. Short taster sessions from the advanced modules such as Day Sailing and Seamanship skills.
When you complete the course you will be more confident in sailing skills and techniques and ready to progress onto the advanced modules.
The RYA Advanced Sailing book G12 for £12.50 is available to buy from our centre.
RYA Sailing with Spinnakers
Age: 13+
Pre requisite: RYA Adult Level 3 or RYA Youth Stage 4 or equivalent qualification
Timings: 09:00-16:30
Price: £195
Learn how handle a modern asymmetric spinnaker. You will develop skills in covering power zones, boat speed and balance. On top of this, you will also learn to hoist and gybe.
This advanced course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding to sail the best possible course downwind.
Adults on the water - Sailing Days
Age: 16+
Cost: £55.00 a day

This Adults on the Water Sailing offers you an opportunity for your first time on the water or to get your sea legs back, if you haven't been out on the water for a while. £55.00 a day or book additional days (or the whole week!). The course is recommended for anyone wishing to sail, regardless of experience. Each individual will work towards their own goals. Expert tuition will be provided and sailing will be done in a mix of single and double handed boats. Bookable by the day, we recommend booking 2 days to get the most out of the experience, however, 1 day is suitable for a taster experience.
