Paddlers are welcome to come along for a gentle paddle, or to polish up their kayaking skills and work towards BCU 1* and BCU 2* assessments, with the assistance of our qualified instructors.

For those who wish, candidates will be recommended to do the appropriate assessment, according to their individual ability. A rough guide is that to achieve BCU 1* will take around 6 sessions; BCU 2* will take around 8 sessions. (Assessment costs are 1*: £35; 2*: £50.)

Come once or twice a week, once a fortnight, or once a month - whenever you are free, whatever you can afford - the choice is yours! All we ask is that you give us a call a few days before, so that we can ensure the correct staffing for the sessions.

The BCU 1 Star is a flat water award that demonstrates an individual has basic boat control and foundation skills. The 1 star can be taken in any kind of paddlesport craft (e.g. sit-ontop, slalom C2, polo boat, sea kayak, racing canoe etc.)

The BCU 2 Star is an improvement award that helps paddlers develop fundamental paddle sport skills on flat water. The emphasis is on gaining a breadth of experience, creating the desired movement of the boat and developing an understanding of how the paddle, boat and water interact.

This course introduces the techniques used in powerboats escorting racing fleets of dinghies and windsurfers, providing safety and rescue cover for training fleets and assisting in race management. Techniques for canoes/kayaks and kite surfers will also be discussed.

It is strongly recommended that participants hold a first aid certificate.

Please note this course will only run with a minumun of 4 students.

This is a 2 day course for Adults, with the ever increasing safety guidelines, and as a result of growing pressures for safety, especially for children, in the outdoors. The British School’s Cycling Association (BSCA) has responded by developing a Leader’s Course to cover Cycling with groups of children and young people. These courses are accepted by many Local Education Authorities, recognised by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, and accredited by British Cycling Coaches.

The course is aimed at youth leaders, teachers and other adults interested in the leadership of groups off road. The elements of training are:

• Navigation
• Access
• Rights of way
• Route planning
• First aid
• Riding techniques
• Equipment
• Basic maintenance

Please note an additional £40 must be sent to BSCA as a registration fee.

This 3 day course will train candidates and assess their competency to teach Power boating up to the standard of the RYA National Powerboat Certificate Level 2. If you already hold the RYA Safety Boat qualification, then this course will also enable you to run RYA Safety Boat.

Informal Kayaking will run on Saturday monrings throughout the summer period. We will also run a evening sessions on Tuedays, with optional BCU 1* and 2* assessments available.

This new way of running Paddlesport at Cobnor is aimed at encouraging paddlers to progress at an affordable cost and their own pace.

                      RYA Stage 3 (Youth Scheme)

The chance to consolidate and practice the skills learnt on RYA sailing courses with our Informal Sailing. These sailing sessions are are ideal for developing individual skills, in order to progress your sailing ability. With the assistance of our qualified instructors, you can spend the morning sailing in Chichester Harbour. Coaching is not provided, but guidance may be given, as needed. You will need to be competent in a sailing boat to attend Informal Sailing and we recommend that beginners should enquire about our RYA sailing courses instead.

When: The Saturday Afternoon Multi-Activity Club will run every Saturday from 28th April for 6 weeks.

Time: 1300-1600

The Multi-Activity Club is designed to allow young people to experience the outdoors, each week, increasing their skills in the wide range of activities Cobnor has to offer:

Sailing, Climbing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Raft Building,

 Mountain Biking and Archery.

Full programme will be available shortly before the club starts, which will be subject to change due to the prevailing weather conditions.
