‘The Instructor is a competent and experienced small boat sailor, capable of sailing a training boat confidently in strong winds and handling small powerboats.’
This is a weeklong residential that will train candidates and assess their competency to teach dinghy sailing to adults and children, both beginners and improvers, including the RYA National Sailing Scheme Level 1 and Level 2, Seamanship Skills, and Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 1 to 4.

To successfully complete the award at this level applicants will need to recognise the level of skill, understanding and knowledge demonstrated (whilst journeying in a sheltered sea environment as part of a led group with winds no more than Force 3) is of the standard of an able, improving sea paddler and beyond that of the beginner.
A consistent two star kayak standard of performance is appropriate for anyone starting to work towards the 3 Star Sea Kayak award.
