We are delighted to announce that Chichester Harbour Friends have awarded a grant to Cobnor Activities Centre. The grant will enhance our shared indoor spaces and strengthen Cobnor’s role as an informal learning hub for young people and visitors of all ages.
The funding will support the refurbishment of the Martin Beale classroom, with part of the space being transformed into a dedicated Birdhide Zone. This new area will include stepped seating, binoculars, bird models and identification materials. It will offer a welcoming and educational environment for observing the Harbour’s unique wildlife and seasonal changes.
Alongside this, Cobnor will be introducing interactive and sensory displays to encourage curiosity about Chichester Harbour’s rich ecology, habitats and maritime heritage. These tactile resources are designed to support inclusive learning and inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
“We welcome a wide range of visitors to Cobnor Activities Centre, each with different interests and needs. This funding allows us to create engaging spaces and resources that encourage independent exploration and inspire a deeper connection with local wildlife and heritage,” explains Caroline Fisk, Education Lead at Cobnor .
Cobnor Activities Centre is a long-standing partner in promoting education and conservation around the Harbour. We are proud to support projects that bring people closer to nature and celebrate the value of outdoor learning.
