Cobnor Activities Centre Trust is an independent charity and licensed provider of adventure activities, based in the heart of Chichester Harbour. We work to enhance life experiences for young people by providing high quality outdoor experiences and personal development, through our activities and educational programmes. We are now recruiting for 2022 for a variety of positions (both permanent and fixed term) to support the development and future growth of the charity.

Office Administrator 

  • Salary - £19,500 - £21,500 pro rata
  • Part time 24.5 hours a week with 1 weekend a month (12 month contract) 
  • Opportunity for bolstered hours to 40 hours a week - depending on candidate

The role is within a small and busy office team located in a beautiful rural location next to Chichester Harbour in Chidham, near Chichester. We are recruiting for an Office Administrator that is enthusiastic, proactive, with a solution focused attitude and a great telephone manner. An interest in watersports or other outdoor activities would be an advantage due to the nature of the industry but is not essential.

This is a part time office role (24.5 hours a week) with a 12-month contract however there is the opportunity for the post holders’ hours to be bolstered to become a full time 40 hours if the candidate has the aptitude in leading outdoor activity instruction, fundraising support, and marketing support for the other two days of the week.

This is a varied role that is fast paced in the peak season with opportunities for training and development for the right person. We would welcome informal enquiries.

Senior Instructors 

  • Salary range: £19,500 - £21,500 - based on qualifications, and experience.

We wish to recruit three Senior Activity Instructors to assist the Chief Instructor with the supervision, planning and delivering of high-quality outdoor activities and courses. The SIs will act as role models for the seasonal activity instructors and will always uphold CACT’s ethos and standards. Further expectations of the role will be to lead the daily staff meetings (in the absence of the Chief Instructor) and be available for ‘duty cover’ to include some evenings and weekends.

Applicants will ideally already hold a range of NGB qualifications plus have subsequent experience to include at least 2 seasons experience at an activity centre. Successful candidates will benefit from additional support and further training both through external NBG courses and in-house awards.

We will also consider applications from candidates that may not yet hold the NGB qualifications but have either extensive paddling and/or sailing experience. If you have and aptitude for leading, learning and setting an example to others we would welcome your application. Please note that if we were to select such a candidate, then employment would initially be as an instructor with a view (through training and personal development plan) to progress to formal promotion to the SI role following an agreed period after demonstrating suitability for the role and securing any key qualifications.

  • Salary Range: £17,500 to £20,000 per annum pro-rata - based on qualifications and experience.

We wish to recruit several Seasonal Activities Instructors to lead the centres daily activity delivery. It is imperative that all our activity instructors ensure that all sessions are safe and delivered to a high and professional standard. The successful candidates will enjoy both working as part of a team and be proactive working to your own initiative.

Candidate will ideally already hold at least 1 or a range of the below NGB qualifications.

· British Canoeing Level 1coach
· RYA Dinghy Instructor
· Archery (GNAS)
· Climbing (CWA or equivalent)

Additional qualifications and experience in Low Ropes, Mountain Biking and team challenges are beneficial to the role.

Casual Activity Instructors

Want to work outside this summer in beautiful Chichester Harbour? We are offering opportunities for Casual Activity Instructors the opportunities to work flexibility around you. You will be working within a friendly and fun team; we offer a competitive salary as well as training opportunities for the right candidates. This role is great for those that already are keen sailors or climber or paddlers or for those that are wishing to start out in the industry.

Interested? We will be holding a free Activity Training Week during the Easter Holidays Monday 11th – Friday 15th April 2022 (0930 to 1600). A packed lunch will be provided each day.

The training and induction week will offer the opportunity for both qualified and non-qualified people to be trained and inducted for the upcoming summer season working at CACT. There is no formal interview for casual staff, just an opportunity to meet a professional team of like-minded people. Over the training week, you will have the opportunity to trained and assessed to deliver our site-specific activities, to include low ropes, problem solving, Aeroball and Orienteering.
