British Canoeing Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course (PSRC)

Our Paddlesport and Rescue Course will aim to provide aspiring paddling instructors with the key safety and rescue skills necessary for any situations that could occur while on the water.

The course is open to all paddlers and will provide the safety skills and strategies needed to resolve common issues during paddling activities.

Attendance required to be eligible to pass the course. 

The British Canoeing Paddlesport Rescue Course is a pre requisite for the BC Paddlepsort Instructors as well as BC Leadership awards. 

Course Content

The course content ranges from towing rescues, self-rescues, deep water rescues, equipment and safety frameworks.

Our Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course will consist of the below modules:

  • Clothing and equipment
  • Safety frameworks
  • Contact and Towing rescues
  • Self-courses
  • Deep water rescues
  • Reflection and development

 

British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor Course

  • Price: £195
  • Duration: 16 hours
  • Timings: 09:00-16:30 

This course is running on both 18/05/24 & 19/05/24.

Are you seeking to become a Paddlesport Instructor? Our British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor Award will teach you the practical skills necessary for delivering beginner sessions in accordance with the requirements of a group.

The course will teach you:

  • Kitting up a group
  • Initial familarisation activities
  • Games and activities to support learning
  • Using mini journeys to encourage adventure and exploration

You will gain a Paddlesport Instructor qualification which will enable you to manage paddlesport taster/starter sessions within clubs, centres or other organisations in:

  • Very sheltered water environments
  • Craft deemed suitable for a first-time experience

Method of Assessment

You will participate in three assessment tasks:

  1. Professional Standards
  2. Rescue Skills
  3. Personal Skills
